April Book Review!

Hello, everyone!

I'm so happy to be back on here today! I've been busy with a special project that's very near and dear to my heart. I can't share what it is exactly at this moment, but it is something that I've touched on before and asked you to prayer for. I'm thrilled and terrified with this project, but it is exactly what God wants me to be working on.

Who's ready for a book review?!

I read some great books this month y'all. Seriously! I've been sharing them on both Instagram and Facebook as I finished them, and I couldn't wait to share them on here, too!

If you are looking for a good book to read, check out this AWESOME list of 16 Books Becoming Movies in 2016. I am so excited about Girl on a Train, The Zookeepers Wife and several others!:

When I first saw this image on Pinterest, I knew I needed to start reading faster. There's nothing more irritating than reading the book after the movie. I started with...

I knew my friend Laura had this one, so I asked to borrow it. At first I thought it was total wack, but y'all... it was so good! I couldn't put it down. I just had to keep going to figure out what was going to happen. Then it ended on a cliff hanger! Several Facebook friends have told me to read the next two books, and I may just have to do that.

I loved Emily Maynard on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. She's beautiful, Southern and Christian. She tells a sweet story of her childhood, her heartbreaking devastation and loss and of course the backstory of being on the infamous tv show. I read the whole thing, cover to cover, in one day. It's a great read for all of you fans.

The Catcher in the Rye

I'm trying to read more classics, at least one a month. I'm not the biggest fan of this one, but I pushed through. It's a classic coming of age story if that's your thing.

I've always been a fan of Jennifer Weiner, and her newest one did not disappoint! This is the story of the typical modern woman/blogger/addict. I guess the addict is quite so typical. It's a great read!

A Pretty Little Liars Box Set: Wicked: The Second Collection: Wicked, Killer, Heartless, Wanted (4 Book Series) by Sara Shepard

Pretty Little Liars Books 5-8

I'm still working my way through my PLL collection and finished four more in this series!

Whoo! Eight books in a month! I'd love to have some of your suggestions for next month's reading. With summer approaching - aka no classes! - I'll have a little more free time to read!

I love spring shopping, especially for beauty and skin care products. (That post is coming soon!) Until then, I've rounded up a few items that I'm currently coveting!

JC's Daily Essentials!

Happy Monday!

I'm just glad there's no rain predicted for this week. Y'all, it's been bad here. It's like tornadoes and flooding almost every day, every week. Not only is it getting old, it's getting bad. We have major highways closed. I'm ready for some brighter weather and some better attitudes. Bad weather just sucks the life right out of you!

Today I'm doing a post all about my daily essentials. We all have things we rely on daily - both good and bad! I thought we would round them up here together!

(*You can find last year's post on my daily essentials here!)

1. The Conair Handheld Steamer

aka

The Miracle Worker

Girls, you need this one. You plug it in for 30 seconds, run it over your clothes, and bam! You're out the door. No irons or ironing boards or having to worry about burning anyone or anything. It's the perfect accessory for the gal on the go. Plus, it's lightweight. I've taken it on many a trip, even on a plane. Hardly weighs a few ounces.

2. Chi Straightener

This one has been around for a little while now, but I have yet to find a better one! It heats up to 450 degrees in 0.0006 seconds (that might be a slight exaggeration, but it's fast!) It gives my hair the perfect smoothness and shine. Remember always to use heat protectant on your hair first!

3. The "Herstyler" Curling Wand

For all of you who cannot for the life of you figure out how to properly curl your hair (like yours truly) this one is for you! It heats up quickly and to a much higher temp than most all other curling irons. So high in fact that it comes with a glove to wear when using it. I love that it's clamp-less, so it doesn't leave a big crease in my hair. It's the perfect curling iron for gals like me!

You know who you are. Grin!

4. Essie Nail Polish

I almost always have my nails painted, and they are almost always painted with Essie nail polishes. They seem to go on smoothly with no bubbling, stay put and are easy to remove with no staining. I love OPI, too, don't get me wrong, but it seems to stain my nails even with a bottom coat. Does that happen to anyone else or just me?

5. Bath and Body Works Hand Soap

I may be a little bit of a hand soap snob. At least BBW isn't too expensive. I like these because you can get the original soap, the moisturizing kind that looks almost like lotion and the foam kind. The foam is my personal favorite because it's clean and it doesn't stick to the sink if it drips or if it doesn't wash completely out the first round. Ya know what I mean? I feel fresh and well-scented after I wash my hands. Which I do A LOT. I work in a nursing home, folks!

6. Minnetonka Slippers

These are the most comfy slippers ever. End of story.

And they have a nice gum sole, so you can wear them to take out the trash - or take your dog out on the back porch to tinkle 95 times a day...

Who would have to do a thing like that???...

7. True Lemon

I found these little water add ins by mistake, and I have told everyone about them. It's about time I shared them with my readers too. They are truly crystalized lemon. There's no sugar. They aren't any kind of "ades". It tastes like you squeezed just one little lemon wedge in your water. Just lemon juice. Perfect for me.

8. A Good Book

I don't go anywhere without a good book. I always have at least one book going, usually 2 or 3 (one fiction, one Christian inspo...) I love to read!

I'm currently reading this one by Jennifer Weiner! Have any of you read it yet?

(You can see a list of all the books I've read so far this year here and my 2015 list here.)

9. Magazines

In addition to books, I also have tons of magazines. I'm a total magazine hog. I have them everywhere. I think I currently have 13 subscriptions. Some come from my Books-a-Million membership, so I don't actually pay for all 13. The nursing home enjoys my hand me downs!

Amazon Magazines

(You can read more about my favorite magazines here.)

10. Good Skincare Products

I've said it a thousand times, I am obsessed with skincare products. They are definitely on my daily essentials list.

Aloette "Gentle Foaming Cleanser", "Skin Refining Toner" and "Nutri-C Moisture Creme"

(I've blogged about Aloette approximately 1,297 times, but to learn more you can read here and here.)

11. Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream

(I was going to stop at 10, but I wanted to share this goody with you too! I'm awesome like that!)

If you have dry cuticles use this. You'll thank me. They will definitely be healed.

 I use it EVERY night.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Friday Favorites!

Happy, Happy Friday!

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
I plan to take it easy with my pup and write a nice long paper on apostolic creeds in the first century church. Anyone wanna come over and hang out?!

No takers?!

As always I'm linking up with AndreaErika and Narci for Friday Favorites!

Be sure you check them out too!

Here we are on Peanut's 8th birthday!

I've only had him since December of 2013, so really just 2 years and some odd months. He's my bestest little friend. I'm so glad he came into my life when he did. He usually poses for the camera better than this. Not sure what's going on here. Probably sees a milkbone or something.

P and I have been working out almost nightly, and he wanted to Snapchat proof that he's been working on his fitness!

I chopped off 5 inches!

What do we think of my new heels?!

Loves!

Just a little light reading for my 20 page paper on death...

I'm an expert on something I know nothing about.

This is what it's like when we go on walks.

He's a real ladies man!

"And the final rose of the night goes to..."

New spring mani/pedi colors!

Mom before her Easter party!

And here she is being murdered by the bunny...

All smiles!

And the real reason for the Easter season!
